区别就是两者意思表代表时是一样的，但用法不一样，stand for主语只能是物，而represent主语只能是人。
例如
Two Senators represent each state in the Upper House.两位参议员在上议院各代表一个州。
I have been picked out to represent the whole team.我被挑选出来代表全队。

other的用法
1、other用作形容词作“别的，其他的，另外的”解时，常用来修饰复数名词或不可数名词； 如前面有this， that， some， any， each， every， no， none， one等词时，也可用来修饰单数名词。
